Bio
Hello everyone, my name is Tyler Widman. I have been working with audio since the age of 13 when I made my first basement recording on a home tape machine with a built in microphone. Since then, my passion for audio has transformed from a hobby to a profession.
In 2003 I interned at my first studio, which was built into the back room at a roller skating rink. I was fortuneate enough to get my start in the same studio that St. Louis' own, Nelly, recorded some of his first songs at. I began recording my first professional sessions around 2004. At the same time I was earning my Bachelors degree in Audio Production at Webster University.
In the spring of 2007, I took on the position as Head Engineer for Notifi Records/Notifi Studio. I helped bulid, design and integrate the entire studio with a Neve VR72 installation as well as a full Pro Tools HD rig. During my time as Head Engineer for Notifi, I had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented artists in the music industry. In 2011 I helped expand Notifi Records/Notifi Studio out to the west coast, designing and integrating their Los Angeles facility.
I also earned my Masters in Media Production with Webster University in 2011.
In 2012 I parted ways with Notifi Records and became a Freelance Engineer afterwhich I began persuing a teaching career at the college level.
I began teaching in 2013. As of the fall of 2013 I have been teaching 3 different classes for UMSL's brand new Certificate in Audio Production program, teaching their Audio Engineering I, Audio Engineering II and Mixing and Mastering Class.
